QUIZ NIGHT REPORT 2022

This year’s quiz night was our first under our new name and it proved to be another very successful evening in the long history of this event.,

A total of 47 were in attendance – most were ready for their fish and chips and there was a handful of those who were quizzers only, including two gents from the Willclare who had seen our posters in the club and decided to see what we were about.  It was good to see the usual faces back for more and pleasingly some new faces joining us for the first time. We hope that they will be back again next time!!

One piece of news to test our arrangements was that our usual marker was unable to do his usual due to illness. We needn’t have worried as Neal Makepeace stepped up to volunteer as a marker. Many thanks Neal. Your help meant that the quiz could go ahead as planned

 The evening got off to a somewhat slow start as our order for food stretched the fat frier to its limits!! Paul needed to make three visits to collect all our orders. Many thanks to Paul for organising the food and its collection from our usual supplier. I don’t think the staggered delivery upset anyone too much.  As it happened everyone was pleased with their supper and when all were all fully replete and ready to test the little grey cells, there were eight teams ready for action.  

The evening began with the traditional Blockbuster to keep busy in any idle moments. Then, Pete’s questions kept everyone on their toes with twelve rounds of questions on many themes supplemented with a couple of spot prize rounds.

The Raffle at half time was very well supported and an excellent £106 was raised by this feature of the evening. Many thanks to Scott, Kyle and Jeevan did well to sell so many tickets. Thanks also to Jeevan who managed to obtain some extra special prizes. Thanks to all who kindly donated other prizes.

Many thanks to all who supported the club event, the first to be held after all the difficulties of recent times. It was good to see the usual quiz-goers and even more pleasing to welcome many new faces. We hope that they will be back for more next time.,  

Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to those who did not do so well. The main thing was that it was a successful and enjoyable  social night for the Club and as it happened a pleasing one for the Treasurer when the final profit for the club was £321.82 – our best ever outcome.
