INDOOR HOCKEY

Much the same as last year, Yardley HC entered the Midlands Indoor Super 6 Qualifiers which took place at Aldersley Leisure Centre. With a blanket of snow along the way, our players safely arrived for a day of fast-paced, competitive hockey.
Our first game was against Nottingham Trent Uni and much like our performances in the 1stXI, this game would prove to be our "warm-up", a little slow to start and getting to grips with the pace. We managed to score our first goal, Mat playing a ball to Jeevan, who played Zach in to finish. The first game finished 13-1 in Nottingham's favour. The next game would be up against Loughborough Town, a more evenly contested game up until half time. An early chance was missed by Jacob Smith and Loughborough Town only managing 2 goals. The second half of this game would prove to be a tough ask, Yardley managing to score via Jacob to make the score 3-1. In the final few minutes in search of a few goals, Loughborough were able to see the game through finishing 6-1. The final game was against Rugby, a game which saw much opportunity at both ends, Rugby being more clinical and attacking in their performance. The final game ended 6-0 to Rugby.
It was an enjoyable day, for all who turned out, some playing indoor for their first time. A big well done and thank you to the players: Jeevan, Mat, Zach, Alex, Paul, Neal, Kyle and Jacob for turning out to play. A big thank you to Jon Smith who supported as the team manager for the day. And a final thanks to the Chaggers, Jarvis' and Olivia for turning out to support the team too.
