MIDWEEK SUMMER TRAINING

Please find below the details for our new adult midweek summer training.

Summer midweek training is starting on Wednesday 17th April.

It's at Oaklands Recreation Ground.

Start time 7:15pm

Meeting at Tesco car park at Yardley Swan shopping centre B25 8UJ.

It's going to run for 90 minutes approximately. Half fitness and HiiT and the other half will be a warm down football game ( other sports develop as summer moves on, frisby, rounders, tag rubgy etc)

After training the group are encouraged and invited to a social get together at the William Tyler public house at the yew tree.

Also the youth training starts on 10th April. Youth only but all youth can attend at Small heath 6-7 every Wednesday.

Pizza and Quiz Night Report

QUIZ NIGHT REPORT 2024

The Club would like to thank all who attended and supported our traditional February Quiz Night. A total of 26 pizzas were ordered and there were another 12 quiz only attendees. So, a fairly good total of Club members, their friends and families, making up 6 teams. Not as many as last year, but a quality attendance nevertheless.

This year it was decided to continue with our pizza and fries deal. As with everything else the cost had gone up a little. So with all those who were eating paying the cost price for the pizzas and a payment for the quiz aspect we managed to keep the total cost down as much as we could. We would like to thank Jeevan and Paul for sorting out the order and Jeevan for collecting the food. We thank ‘Dixy Chicken’ at the Yew Tree for doing a good deal for us once again.

The Club would like to thank Neil and Keith for agreeing to help with the marking. This was a great help to the smooth running of the event.

The now traditional raffle attracted excellent support and a record amount of £125 was raised to help swell the funds. Thanks to Kyle and Jeevan for selling so many tickets and indeed to all who donated a large number of prizes.

Your cunning quiz-master decided upon the theme of ‘People and Places’ for this year’s quiz. A mixed assortment of some easier, some more difficult, questions followed together with a usual mix of Blockbuster questions and a couple of Spot Prizes to keep everyone entertained. It’s hard to please everyone all the time but comments at the end of the evening seemed to show that everyone enjoyed this year’s event

At the end of it all, Neal’s merry men and lady, ran away with three of the main prizes. Congratulations to them. Edan’s team members will console themselves with the traditional prizes for those who were less successful!!

At the end of the proceedings, when all accounts had been settled, a very modest profit for the Club of almost £200 was raised.

Many thanks to all who supported the event. We hope to be able to convince a few more to attend next year. The quiz-master is already hard at work dreaming up next year’s theme.

The Club would like to thank Pete for his questions and all who helped with the organisation of the enjoyable evening.

Any positive feedback would be appreciated and would help guiding our thoughts in preparation for the next quiz.

Mixed Hockey Report

City of Birmingham MixedXI 4-2 Solihull Blossomfield Mixed Team

Goals from: Caz, Jess and Jeevan Chagger X2

A Club first, entering the England Hockey Mixed Championships. played at the Doug Ellis. A squad of 13 turned out with lots of spectator support.

Early on, quick exchanges between Zach, Jeevan and Alex to try and find Laura, Emi and Caz caused chaos for Bloss. A few openings going wide before on 22 minutes Alex played an Aerial to Jeevan from his own half, before Chagger slipped the ball to Caz who made no mistake. A spring in their step, the midfield continued to press, this time Jeevan striking home at an empty net as the keeper dived to the floor. Bloss brought a goal back from a defensive error to make it 2-1. A great ball from Zach to Alex and then Jess saw her get a goal (she's usually a keeper, but what a deflection!) Another defensive error, Bloss crashed a ball from half way, a deft touch in the circle bringing scores to 3-2. With more energy, CoB broke down the right with Laura, playing the ball across the goal for Jeevan to get the fourth. 4-1 at the break.

The arrival of Anna allowed Sadeka and the ladies to rotate and keep fresh legs. Troy and Edan continued to marshall the game well. Several short corners causing no threats, the game was nicely poised and played in good spirits. Two knocks to Alex and Jeevan were the downsides of the game with a promising performance for the Mixed XI's first outing.

RACE NIGHT 2023 REPORT

The Club's traditional Race Night proved to be another good night out.

The event was attended by the faithful few who all seemed to enjoy the event.

Before the start of the event we sold 112 horses and obtained 5 sponsors. So although not record breaking numbers, we did raise the goodly sum of £445.50 for the Club.

Apart from the usual 8 races, we also enjoyed the Auction Race. We would like to thank Edan and Jack for stepping up to act as our auctioneers for the event. These two guys have obviously missed their vocation and could easily find a new outlet as a comedy duo. Many thanks guys.

Our Jackpot and Raffle also helped to raise addiional funds. Thanks to Jeevan who sold the tickets.

We also thank Adam who once again steered us though the evening's events.

So we thank all who supported the event by buying horses, helping out with some sponsorship, bought raffle tickets and donated raffle prizes and by attending the event itself. Well done to all who bought horses and were delighted if your horse won and you claimed your cash prize.

A good night out and thanks for your support.
