The final game of the season and the second of two against this opposition to follow the league programme. Unfortunately, the game was not able to start until 3.00pm as the opposition had mis-read the directions and had initially gone to the Doug Ellis stadium. So with the game reduced to two shortened halves to comply with the pitch closure at 4.00pm. To compound the situation the opposition did not have a goalkeeper.

When the game eventually started it did not take long (about 4 mins)  for CoB to open the scoring. Good approach play by Zi led to a simple tap-in for Stan with no keeper to block his efforts. For the rest of the half, CoB tried to get into their stride but found it difficult to boss the game. Bromsgrove, with a team of several youngsters proved elusive and made life difficult for the home side. So, after a rather lack-lustre first half, CoB were still only 1-0 in front at the break.

The second half began with Bromsgrove making a good start and forced Jack to make a series of fine saves.

Gradually, CoB go their act together and added a second goal when Stan put away a short corner.

Soon afterwards, more lively approach play from Zi enabled Stan to complete his hat-trick with another simple tap-in. More good chances were created and eventually Ian pounced in the D to add a fourth. In the latter stages another good move saw Stan put in a shot on goal, but Zi got the final touch to claim the team’s 5th. Jack was called upon to make several more saves as the visitors rallied for a final-effort. They forced a late, late, short corner from which they claimed a consolation goal right on the final whistle.

A better second half from CoB to complete, what in the end, has been a good season with much to be proud of. Enjoy the summer lads, and be ready to go again in September.
