Men's 1st Team Vs Edgbaston 3

An afternoon start at the University of Birmingham. The Men's 1stXI were primed at the start of the game to make amends for their last outing. Bottom placed Edgbaston took command of early exchanges, looking to test Neal and our back line of yesteryear Mat, Sohail and Akib. Edgbaston broke from a quick free hit and took an early lead. CoB continued to press with Noor and Jordan holding up play for wingers Kyle and Jeevan to overlap. CoB quickly clicked into gear, Jordan playing Jeevan through on goal who flicked the ball past the diving keeper to level scores. Zach and Junaid combined to set off Jeevan again who won a short, Alex taking a beautiful drag flick into the top corner, even two keepers would have had no chance. In 3 minutes, CoB turned the game from 1 goal behind to 1 goal ahead.

At the half, much the same was needed. Sean rotated with the midfield to keep things fresh, confusing Edgbaston who were pinned in the half for a good 10 minutes. Tired legs and poor marking saw Edgbaston break away down both flanks. CoB continued to pile on the pressure with flurries of chances, before Junaid worked the ball into the D, Jeevan miss-timed a shot, taking out a stick with his effort, before Junaid rounded the keeper and buried the ball into the net. 3-1 and a much-deserved 3 points to keep the gap to the bottom of the table.
