Match Report | Hampton in Arden 5s 2 v 1 COBHC 2s Goal scorer - Anthony Truelove. The visitors played brilliantly for the first ten minutes. Great passing. Break up of any home team attack was quick and decisive. Zee and Anthony both had early chances, but the Hampton keeper was in top form. Then Stan got injured shortly after this positive period and had to go off! During this spell we had ten men (no subs) and missing Stan’s strength they got two breakaway goals. Matt Kong was brilliant in goal unfortunately he couldn’t stop the breakaway goals. The home team were trying to take full advantage of our main threat being off the pitch. They put COBHC under constant pressure for the remaining 15 minutes of the half but the defence stood firm and kept the home team at bay. Eventually Stan returned to the pitch but his mobility was severely reduced. Second half the COBHC Second team got better. Winning nearly all the 50/50’s. They looked more determined. Stan was now supporting the midfield, (still carrying his injury) and passes became more controlled. Fifteen minutes in to the second half the visitors got a great second goal. A Fantastic long ball just inside Hampton’s half by Stan, it found Anthony on the back post, who shot through the keeper’s legs hitting both feet ricocheted in for his first goal of the league season. The team pushed Hampton back trying to get an equaliser, but unfortunately not enough time...... but a great team effort. The whole team played brilliantly but with certain players unavailable and with Stan’s injury, combined with a skilful player in the Hampton in Arden’s team. He normally plays much higher up the divisions but is coming back from an injury, he organised their team and controlled the middle of the pitch. Lots of positives from the Second team and again our youth players did City of Birmingham proud. |
