Match Report | CoB 2s 1 v 0 Sutton Coldfield 8s Goalscorer: Robin Stanley Both teams lined up with several squad players starting on the sidelines waiting for their call to rotate. After an even start, Sutton began to claim the better of the exchanges, but without any great threat in the final third. The home defence was again more than holding its own with the back line of Paul, Edan and Owen holding firm and with Ian in control in front of them, Jack, in goal. was having a fairly- quiet time. Meanwhile the midfield, with Stan and Ben leading the way, was exerting good pressure going forwards. The whole team was playing with a quiet confidence. Zi, up front was very lively, trying to create openings for his team-mates. Right on half time, CoB’s attacking play lead to Stan impressively wriggling his was passed defenders into the D to get his shot away to give the keeper no chance and into the goal to claim a lead just before the whistle. The second half continued in much the same way with CoB continuing to create chances. Generally, the play was evenly balanced with Sutton having their fair share of possession too. Sutton’s pressure called Jack into play to clear his lines several times. Both teams continued to rotate their squad players to good effect. CoB continued to press on to look for a deserved second goal, but in the end they had to settle for another narrow but hard-fought three points to maintain their impressive 4th place in the league. Next week the team travel to Hampton in Arden.
