A tough away day to kick off 2024, with CoB M1s only able to field 10, with the 2s also depleted to 9. Nonetheless, the team dug in and fought well, taking the game to Stourport. A make-shift defense of Jeevan, Sohail and Ian kept Stourport at bay for large parts before 2 quickfire goals gave the hosts the lead. This wasn't without challenge, with Junaid, Alex and Kyle driving forward and creating opportunities to test their keeper. 2-0 at the break.
With rotation and injuries, the pack shifted. CoB were the brighter team and had the lion's share of chances. Some quick cross-field play in the defence between Ian and Jeevan saw the ball release down the left wing through Jordan to Sohail. A fabulous solo run tipped off with a neat tap into the goal for Alex. As the game closed, CoB looked the more likely to score, Stourport having a PC goal ruled out for height. 2-1 the final score, with the team left ruing what may have been with 11 players. |
