Goalscorers : Jeevan Chagger, Ben Matthews

For the first game of the second half of the season the 2nds faced a tough challenge against table-topping Bromsgrove. It was not going to be easy. The 2nds themselves would have been fairly optimistic after a promising first half of the season.

Both teams arrived with good-sized squads. The visitors began the game strongly, showing their intentions, giving the home defence plenty of work to do. Gradually CoB worked their way into the game with some promising forays forward. Midway through the half it as the home team who grabbed the lead. Good approach play led to a melee in the D and Ben was on hand to put the ball into the net.

The home defence was continuing to stand firm with Paul, Stan Edan and Owen were showing their worth. The whole team was working hard and using their sub rotations well and listing to the coach on the side.

However, with half time rapidly approaching, Bromsgrove grabbed hold of the game. Firstly, from midfield a hopeful long ball into the D reached a forward standing on the line who only had to get his stick on the ball to touch it into the goal, giving Jack no chance. Then right on the stroke of the whistle the visitors gained a short corner from which they edged into the lead.

For the start of the second half, CoB brought on super-sub Jeevan who made his presence felt almost immediately with a shot that just went wide of the post. More good team-play led to Jeevan surging into the D and putting a strong shot on target to level the scores.

Both teams continued to show some good approach play and honours remained pretty-even until the final five minutes when the visitors won and converted a short corner to grab the three points, to maintain their position at the top.

CoB can feel happy that they too contributed to a good game and were perhaps a little unlucky not to come away with something to show for their efforts. A good team performance with the youngsters continuing to show their impressive development and value to the team.
