The first game of the second half of the league fixtures, just happened to be against the current leaders. It was never going to be easy.

After a fairly-even start, both teams settled into their stride with CoB defence pretty sound, but with the visitors beginning to show why they are where they are in the league. Midway through the half, one of Droitwich’s positive moves forward led to the first goal. CoB replied with a little more pressure of their own into the final third and shortly, near the end of the half, managed to score an equaliser through Noor after good approach play from Ash. Then right on the half-time whistle, Droitwich were awarded a short corner which they managed to put away the regain the lead going into the break.

The second half be1gan with both teams trying to push on. The visitors still looking strong in their approach play, but with CoB still trying hard to create their own chances.

A third Droitwich goal was disallowed as they had a green-carded player had rejoined the field of play without the umpire’s permission.

There were no further goals and the visitors held on to claim the three points.

The home side battled away throughout, but could not offer much in the way of a direct threat on goal. They might feel a little disappointed at the final-result, but can gain some comfort from holding the leaders to a close game.

Next week, the team travel to Stourport, another team in the promotion hunt!
