CoB Men’s 1sts   2  v  0  Worcester 3rds

Goalscorers:  Alex Makepeace, Noor Zaman

At the start of the game, CoB fielded just the eleven players, no subs. Worcester started with ten, were soon up to eleven, with no subs either. 80 mins for all!!

CoB made a bright start creating some good forward advances. Once they were up to a full complement, Worcester settled into their stride and tried to create some forward momentum. However, the CoB defence stood firm and kept their visitors at bay. CoB continued to press forward at frequent intervals. In the 17th minute, their efforts were duly rewarded when Mat sent a free hit from the left into the D. Alex gathered the ball, picked his spot and slotted home.

CoB continued their efforts. Abrar went on a surging run forward. His cross into the D was too good as it beat everyone on its way out of play

In the 25th minute, CoB added to their lead when Noor made no mistake from a cross from the right.

Another great effort on goal was well saved by the visiting keeper who was injured in the process, causing a short stoppage.

Worcester were trying hard to stay in the game, but unfortunately, several of their passes were a little wayward.

At half time, the home side were well worth their lead.

At the start of the second half, the visitors started slightly the stronger, but still could not really make many inroads into the CoB defence. CoB continued with some very positive forward play and several times the Worcester keeper was called upon to make some heroic saves to keep his side in the game. There followed a period of play with both sides showing good intent but unable to make their efforts count.  CoB had many chances that almost led to something more positive. Worcester too were trying hard, but still their final ball was still letting them down. In the final stages a few green and one yellow card were needed to calm things down a little.  One CoB player indeed earned two green cards.

In the end. CoB will be satisfied with a good win to keep them in top spot. After the efforts of the first half, the second half should have produced greater rewards. Next week the team will play the re-arranged game at home against Redditch, start at 1.00pm
