Match Report | CoBHC 2ndXI 3-0 Old Wulfrunians M5s Goalscorer: Robin Stanley x3
CoB M2s got 2022 off to a winning start in a game that was re-arranged from the end the first half of the season.
In a slightly earlier pitch slot, the game got underway a little after the scheduled push-back time due to players from the opposition held up in traffic. When the game got underway, CoB had 16 players ready to Old Wulfs' 11 without a keeper for early moments. CoB started off brightly with an attack from Jahed and Stan seeing the latter crunch a ball into the far post. Old Wulfs started to get into the game themselves, but then Parameth played a square pass across the goal with Stan scoring yet again, 2-0 up within the first 5 minutes. Our defence of Edan, Ian, and Jack were rarely tested with Matt in goal having to make no saves. Ash, Jahed, Sean, Ben, and Parameth controlled the middle as Ismaeel and Stan were upfront causing problems to the visitors' defence. With the luxury of 5 subs, Jeevan rotated wingers Lindani and Kamran every 7 minutes with David occupying the midfield with Jordan and Jeevan with the latter two used sparingly for a combined 15 minutes in the whole game. CoB had a number of chances, Jordan's goal disallowed for an earlier infringement, Lindani putting wide a pass from Jeevan and other shots missing the target.
Half time and a positive start to the game. The rotation of substitutions working well-meaning players were not so tired. CoB started off brightly again with Stan, Sean and Ismaeel looking to trouble the defence. Ash in his solid midfield role was cutting out attacks and pulling the strings with a range of pinpoint passes into the forward line. One such move saw Ash clear to Jeevan who held the ball up, slipping in Lindani behind the defence, a square pass to the back post saw Stan round off a neat hattrick. CoB continued to control the game with Jack and Edan making great interceptions, Kamran, Parameth, Ben and Lindani rotating to occupy acres of space high up the pitch and the team working well to ensure another clean sheet. Next week M2s host 2nd place Lichfield M6s
