Match Report | Hampton 3/4s 2-0 City of Birmingham Men’s 1sts
Our men’s first team enjoyed a good first run out after an eleven month wait after our last league game. Our side welcomed the returning member, Abrar and new member Abbasi in what would be a challenging encounter, testing out fitness and hockey. CoBHC started off well with some early exchanges but much of the hockey was end to end, with both teams losing possession and breaking down play. Noor had an early shot fizzing wide with Jeevan unable to keep down another. Hampton scored their first from a short corner and quickly doubled their league from a diving effort at the back post making it 2-0 at half time. In the second half, CoB settled and started to make headway in possession, utilising the wings of Jordan, Kyle and Jahed. Fullbacks Edan and Noah were able to begin pressing up the field. Hampton challenged our goal only twice in the second half, Neal being called on to make saves. Two late efforts from Abbasi and Jeevan hit the posts with full time nearing. It is hoped the 1s or 2s can get another friendly in before the league begins in less than 2 weeks time.
