Match Report | CoBHC 2nd X1 0 v 7 Kingswinford 3rds CoB seconds faced a difficult top of the table clash against leaders Kingswinford 3rd. A win would have sneaked them into top spot. However, just like the 1st team, the team was short of a couple of key players through injury so it was going to be a tall order to get anything from the game. The team tried very hard during the first half but were out-muscled by a stronger, much more experienced side. In spite of their superiority Kingswinford reached 3-0 by half time mainly through some quite scrappy goals. During the second half, CoB youngsters battled away and tried hard to stay in the game but in the end, it seemed like a classic case of men against the boys. CoB’s plight was not helped by a nasty injury to Andy who had to go off after defending a short corner and getting caught by a stick to his jaw. It later transpired that he had fractured his jaw in four places and lost a couple of teeth into the bargain!! We wish him well as he recovers. In spite of everything, it was the end of an impressive, unbeaten run of ten games - the last defeat being also against Kingswinford, first time round, in November. With just three games remaining, the 2nds must pick themselves up and strive to hold onto second place. |
