Goalscorers:  Ashraf Baig, Jeevan Chagger, Noor Zaman

CoBHC needed a win to ensure at least 2nd spot in the final league standings.

Both teams started the game fairly evenly, but CoBs gradually asserted the greater control, enjoyed greater pressure, created many chanced but just could not make their superiority count. Both Ash and Abrar were prominent at this stage, pushing forward, well supported by Zach and Alex as the home side strove for the opening goals. In defence, David, Scott and Mohammed Arif were largely untroubled by the infrequent visitors’ attacks. Kyle and Jeevan offered width and good supported. Up front, Noor looked for opportunities. Neal was having a largely quiet afternoon in goal.

Both Jeevan and Alex had good chances just go wide. Other chances went begging but the team just plugged away looking for that elusive opening. As the half wore on the visitors began to enjoy a little more possession, but did not really threaten.

Half time arrived at 0-0. CoB rued the chances created but not taken.

The second half began with both teams showing more determination, but with the home side still enjoying the greater possession and pressure. Eventually, it had to come. After more good work by Ash, surged forward and cracked in a firm shot to open the scoring. Olton kept to their game, but the home defence held firm. The home side needed another goal to calm the nerves and it came as another good move forward saw a bit of a scramble in the visitors’  D. A shot on goal was half cleared by the keeper, but Jeevan was on hand to put it away. Olton fought back and forced a short corner. The shot on goal was well saved and cleared by Neal diving to his right. In the final stages CoB enjoyed a third goal. Another good move forward saw the ball bobbling about in the D and Noor completed a good win for his team who got the result they so dearly wanted to stay clear in second place.

CoB enjoyed a good win against resolute opposition. Next week’s game is a potentially a league decider against current leaders, Barford Tigers.
