Goal Scorers: Noor Zaman, Abrar Baig, Jeevan Chagger
CoB M1s were back in action with an Away game at Worcester after last week's walk over. The team welcomed David Grenfell who was promoted following his club debut last week.
CoB sat deep for much of the early exchanges as they got to grips with the game. Some bright moments from Zach, Alex and Scott ensured that wingers Jeevan and Junaid we involved in a lively opening exchange. Junaid was unleashed on the right from a pass by David, which saw Noor open our account only for it to be disallowed for an obstruction in the build-up.
CoB continued to press with Ubaydah playing a ball into Abrar, who skipped past 2 players and fed the ball to Zach, who made an impressive run down the wing and by-line (as worked on in training just days earlier), playing in Noor who scooped the ball over the diving keeper. 1-0 into the break. Abbasi and Neal were called into action on a few occasions at short corners, clearing lines and keeping the hosts at bay.
During the second half and tired legs did start to appear, meaning open spaces and pockets. Junaid found much joy down the right as Jeevan did the left. Abrar continued his form behind Noor, running at the defence and attempting a reverse which made its way into the back of the goal. 2-0.
With some fashionable end to end hockey (and at times, table tennis like) the game was evenly poised to be a great finish, both teams looking to score, though the hosts having the better chances. Abrar found the ball just outside the 23 yard line, playing in Jeevan, who took one touch into the circle and neatly finished a strike past the keeper into the roof of the net from the top of the circle, to seal all 3 points. |
