Match Report | CITY of BIRMINGHAM 2nd X1 2 OLD SILHILLIANS 5ths 3 Goalscorers: Anthony Truelove, Jeevan Chagger The newly formed CoBHC 2nd team took to the field for the very first time, albeit for a league game. With difficulties over pitches persisting, the game was brought forward a week with the agreement of all parties. This new 2nd team helped to start the new era for the Club. A new side with many new faces including and welcoming older Badgers and new recruits Kamran, Parameth and Troy. Robin Stanley has agreed to skipper the side on match days with Zach helping with the team’ admin. CoBHC, not too unsurprisingly, got off to a somewhat slow start and were overrun on a number of occasions, enabling Old Sils to build up a 3-0 lead. CoBHC began to grow into the game with Jordan making a great pass to Sean, who played the ball into Anthony who took two attempts before scoring the first league goal for this new men’s side. At half-time, a team talk from skipper Stan and Head Coach Zach spurred on the youngsters with lots of positive game play to take into the second period of the game. The second half saw CoBHC take up lots of possession in their opponents’ half. Sean continued to make some good attacks, eventually winning a short corner. Jeevan, returning from injury and only able to play 5 minutes of the game, pushed out a short corner ball to Stan, who played it back to Jeevan, to play it into the goal unmarked at the back post. CoBHC went on to win several other short corners but could not make them count. Jack, in goal, was forced to make three great saves from short corners. A final attack from CoBHC was unfortunately halted by the final whistle. In spite of the result it was fantastic for the club to be able to field a second team with lots of new faces and a great challenge lies ahead to develop the obvious potential of these players. |
