Match Report | Yardley Badgers 4-1 Olton Badgers Goal Scorers: Sean, Harvey, Dawud, Zak
Yardley Badgers played at home to Olton this week as their Conference campaign started. Yardley fielded 8 players initially until Olton asked Yardley to field a 3rd adult to balance the game. Back line of Barakah and Noah did their best to keep Olton at bay for most parts but Olton scored in the opening 10 to make it 1-0. The midfield of Sean, Dawud, Zak, Jake and Cem played extremely well and linked well to play the ball but were unable to force any real threat on goal. Zach swapped with Islam to resume his coaching role, trailing at the break. Olton offered Yardley Harvey in good spirits who helped our team in the second half.
The second half was quite an exciting half. Dawud and Cem growing into the game and becoming more confident, striking the ball well and making Olton make mistakes in their circle. Zak won a short corner which saw Sean strike the rebound into the goal. Harvey offered us some more attacking threat, and his brilliant run forced another short corner, which he struck cleanly and the ball rolling over the line to get the second. Yardley grew into the game more, Jake making a good pass to Sean, who found Harvey and Dawud was on hand across the goal to score the third. Barakah and Noah began to press higher to encourage a fourth with Zak playing a lovely one two with Harvey to get himself a goal and the team’s fourth. A great start to their campaign. Thanks to Jon Smith and Jeevan for umpiring the game. |
