West Bromwich  2    Yardley   3

Goalscorers:  Jordan McGuigan, Alex Makepeace 2

Yardley claimed a very timely win in their quest to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

Yardley enjoyed a lot of early possession with West Brom being restricted to only having a few significant lengths of possession.

The first goal of the game came from Jordan who got on the end of a ball from Noor and calmly put it past the keeper into the bottom corner.

Yardley then slowed the game down a bit to regain some control after the restart. Neal was called into action a few times in the first half via some short corners and a few shots from open play.

By half time Yardley had managed to maintain their slender lead.

During the second half Yardley maintained their measure of control and extended their lead when Alex took a quick free hit from inside the 25, took it around two players into the D and struck a shot past the keeper into the bottom right corner.

From the restart, West Brom stepped up their game and won a penalty flick which was miss-hit but still managed to trickle into the corner of the goal.

Yardley then had a spell of short corners to defend. Alex clearing one from entering the bottom corner, while the others were smothered by the defence.

Yardley then enjoyed another good spell of attack which ended up with a short corner. Alex received the ball, took it past the first runner and then flicked it over the keeper into the middle of the goal to- give his side a 3-1 lead going into the last 15 mins.

In their efforts to get back into the game, West Brom started to attack heavily and managed to make it 3-2 with a shot scrambling over the line. Yardley tried to press after the restart, but West Brom attacked one final time in the last 5 mins scoring what they thought was the equaliser, but it was ruled a foul for a foot infringement.

Yardley managed to hang on to their lead to record a timely and deserved win to ease their worries a little. Next game is at home to Barford Tigers, with another big effort needed.
