Match Report | Bournville 1-0 Yardley
Bournville snatch a winner late on to deny Yardley a point.
Yardley travelled away to Bournville for a late afternoon clash in hope of gaining a point or two to salvage their sorry league position.
The team saw the return of Ed and Abrar who recently transferred back to us, though there were notable absences of other regulars. Yardley started off brightly with some great possession and play but attacks being stopped by the defence at the top of the shooting circle. In the opening 5 minutes, a great chance for Jeevan who saw 3 shots saved in succession from a tight angle as Bournville looked rocked in defence.
Yardley themselves defended in large parts too, Neal making some excellent saves to keep scores level. Noor was played in on goal by Abrar in a great position only to see his shot go wide. 0-0 at the break. Second half and the midfield dropped a little deeper. Few chances and quick breaks, Yardley found themselves in good positions with Noor missing a cross by Abrar narrowly and Noor also hitting the side netting. Late on, Bournville won a short corner from which they made no mistake and put the ball into the back of the net to clinch all three points.
Next week Yardley host Droitwich in the start of series of games that they now must win to maintain their hopes up of avoiding relegation. |
