| Match Report | Yardley 0-2 Old Halesonians 3s
Yardley fought well until the final 5 minutes when Old Hales clinched 2 quick goals.
Yardley started off brightly stringing together some great passes and attacks which forced 2 early short corners well saved by the keeper. Old Hales began to get their foot in the game and quickly raked up 4 short corners within 5 minutes but the Yardley defence stood firm.
In the second half, with scores still deadlocked, the visitors piled the pressure on a resolute Yardley defence. Marshalled by Mat, the defence cut out numerous opportunities and Neal made some great saves. Noor was set up with a golden opportunity that was parried away by the keeper. Late on, Jeevan went down with a foot injury after being pushed to the floor which ended his game prematurely. In the final 5 minutes, Old Hales stepped up the pressure and were rewarded with 2 goals late on to take away all 3 points. Next week Yardley travel to Bournville. |
