Match Report | Olton & W Warwick 4s 7-3 Yardley 1stXI Goalscorers: Noor Zaman, Jeevan Chagger x2
Yardley were away at promotion contenders Olton in what proved to be a tough game. The match also saw the returns of Harry and Captain Alex who had been side-lines to a broken knuckle. Yardley started off brightly, soaking up pressure and putting the ball out of danger. A Yardley clearance found Noor who ran at the Olton keeper making it 1-0 to the visitors in the opening minutes. Olton began to settle into the game and started to make headway in the Yardley half and were rewarded with two quick goals before half time. Goals galore in the second half, a game that would have been well matched if Yardley could keep up their fitness. Olton managed to score 5 goals in the second half with Neal making some superb saves. Jack, Edan, Mat and Noah did their best to keep play at bay for large periods of the half. Yardley won a succession of corners when Jeevan returned to the pitch with Noor’s initial shot being saved by the keeper and Jeevan slotting home. Yardley would go on to walk away with another consolation goal, this time Jeevan drag flicking the ball into the bottom corner from a short corner. Next week Yardley are at home to Harborne 4s
