Match Report | Yardley Badgers 0-3 Olton Badgers
This proved to be a difficult game but showing some promise, with much to work on in the weeks ahead. Yardley Badgers endured a difficult game, suffering a 3-0 loss to Olton. Yardley were quickly on the back foot, with Olton pressing high and making quick attempts. Anthony, in goal, keeping the team in the game. But a lack of discipline cost the side two quick goals midway through the first half. 2-0 and Yardley slowly grew into the game. Zak and Barakha trying to play in Emily and Islam on the wings. A lovely through ball from Barakha to Thomas offered some threat, but the ball had just run out once chased down. The first half offered some end to end action but Olton were getting the better of the chances and threatening more and more. During the second half the team showed a little bit more balance, Kyle starting off as our Adult in the heart of the defence. This, with a few other positional changes, saw some of the attacking intent our Badgers are capable of. Zak Dean played in other Zak on the right wing whose pace offered chances but were often cut out. Play was now becoming more even, Yardley switching the ball out to Emily who linked well with Zak Dean to offer some good possession. Midway through, Kyle was replaced by Mat who continued the passing range, Anthony making a few more key saves and Mat clearing the lines to wingers who got into the game late on. Thomas had a brilliant shot saved and tipped wide from one attack. Late on, Yardley were awarded two short corners in succession, the latter narrowly going wide.
Next week Yardley Badgers are away to Hampton in Arden
