Match Report | DROITWICH SPA 1sts 4 YARDLEY 1 Yardley goal-scorer: Noor Zaman Unfortunately, Yardley suffered a late cry-off and so with no time to secure a replacement, had to travel to play with ten men against Droitwich 1sts, a team up there vying for promotion. However, during the early stages the game remained pretty even. Eventually the balance of play told in favour of the home side. Droitwich scored twice with Noor replying for the visitors with a one on one situation. He managed to get his shot under the advancing keeper’s body and it trickled over the line. With the game still fairly even, Yardley were reduced to 9 players when Rob suffered a bad cut above his eye and had to be taken immediately to A and E. There followed a period when a number of green cards were shown to both teams, some of which players were at a loss as to their relevance. However, in the end, the score-line seemingly shows a comfortable victory to the home side, enabling them to maintain their promotion challenge. Yardley’s next game is at home against another of the promotion hopefuls, Bromsgrove 2nds. |
