Match Report | West Bromwich 2nds 1 Yardley 0
Yardley had to travel to play West Bromwich having needed to make several changes to their line-up. Anthony, Islam and Tahir came into the game which proved to be a tough contest. However, Yardley gave a good account of themselves during the first half, creating chances and short corners that unfortunately were not put away. Two of Noor’s chances hit the post! West Bromwich too were well in the game, commanding the midfield for long periods and breaking out from the back in the hope of breaking the Yardley defence. Anthony was called upon to make some key saves during a flurry of short corners. At the start of the second half, Yardley again began on the front foot, Noor having a shot saved by the keeper and Jeevan also supporting a great chance, but the ball somehow kept out. Yardley did have the ball in the goal twice through Jeevan, but both goals were ruled out for fouls before that ball went in. West Bromwich pushed hard during the final minutes of the game and were rewarded with a scrappy goal to claim all three points. Yardley will be disappointed with the final result, but not with their determined effort throughout. This week, Yardley face a tough game, at home to Barford Tigers. |
