Match Report | YARDLEY 1sts .v. KINGS HEATH PICKWICK
In a re-arranged fixture, Yardley battled hard to keep score line so low against Kings Heath Pickwick. In the alpha beta game. Yardley had the first attack within 20secs of the Kings Heath pushback, intercepting a wayward pass and stringing four quick passes together on route to goal, but from getting tackled in the home team's “D” Kings Heath Pickwick broke away and scored, all still within the first minute of play. Yardley still continued with good positive play, particularly the midfield trio of DJ, Zach and Jeevan who tried to control the area with clever individual skills and inter team passing. THowever, the home team gradually gained the upper hand as the visitors were either forced to defend deep or decided to quell the attacks from a defensive stronghold. Either way the home team grew in confidence and three more goals came at regular intervals to make it 4-0 at the break, in spite of Yardley’s keeper, Neil Makepeace who had made some brilliant saves. The fifth goal came 20minutes in to the second half during which time Yardley managed three good chances of their own in and unsettled the home defence numerous times. It was a tough game but Yardley worked hard and never dropped their heads and averted another ten nil drubbing from earlier in the season. These two teams are scheduled to meet twice more before the end of the season. |
