Match Report | Wednesbury 5 Yardley 1
Yardley’s disappointing season so far did not improve any in this Warwick Printing MRHA West Midlands Division 1 against the team just above them in the league. Yardley’s fortunes were not enhanced any through having to change the team because of illness, but they did start off brightly enough with good interchanging of passes and combinations between defenders and midfielders. Wednesbury too were creating attacks of their own, but offering little initial direct threat. Eventually they did edge in front before Yardley’s chances were dealt a cruel blow when they were reduced to ten men through injury. With no subs on the side they were forced to battle on. This they did to good effect, continuing to press forward with their persistence finally paying off when good combination play set up Noor Zaman to sweep in at the far post to level the scores before half time. Yardley started the second half brightly with good early chances missing the target. Eventually with the extra man, Wednesbury were able to exert pressure forcing keeper Neal Makepeace into action several times before the final goals were conceded by a tiring Yardley side. This week Yardley entertain Pershore. |
