Match Report | This week’s hockey report: EVESHAM AND BADSEY 4 YARDLEY 2 Yardley completed the first half of their league season with another disappointing result in the Warwick Printing MRHA West Midlands Division 1 Yardley started off slowly and gradually picked up the pace of the game to string some good passes together. A strike from a 16 yard hit from Matt Bartlett found Noor Zaman in the opposing 23 yard area. He passed the ball on to Zakariyya Asif who made no mistake. Evesham fought back and eventually levelled the scores before continuing to press forward and take the lead. Yardley pressed on and a good passage of play ended with Noor Zaman again levelling the scores before half time. During the second half, for some inexplicable reason, Yardley seemed to switch off and lose their way somewhat, in spite of a great attacking move, only for Noor’s strike on goal to rebound away off the upright. In the latter stages of the game Evesham sealed the game with two more goals. The Evesham team must have thought Santa had come early as they earned their first win if the season and moved off the bottom of the league. As they go into the mid-season break, Yardley seemingly have much to ponder before they return to the fray against Newtown in January.
