Match Report |
Yardley succumbed to another heavy defeat in the Warwick Printing MRHA West Midlands Division 1.
Still not fully back to full-strength, Yardley were under the cosh right from the start and it was down to stand-in keeper, Anthony Truelove who made several timely saves to prevent his team falling behind early on. Eventually however, the pressure told and Old Wulfs grabbed the lead courtesy of a good follow-up from an original shot on goal from a short corner. It was some time before Yardley managed to create many good chances, but failed when they arrived, they failed to capitalise on any of them. The visitors grabbed a second from a rather scrambled effort and then the game was virtually made safe just on the stroke of half time when a cross from the right wing was met and steered in.
Yardley tried hard to up their game early in the second period, with Zach Jarvis and Navid Akram prominent in their progress. Yardley’s keeper was again called into action but he could not be faulted when another scrambled effort went in. Finally, Yardley managed to produce an excellent attack starting from their own half and finished off well by Zakarriya Asif. Although Yardley’s young team did not give up at any stage, but they could not prevent the very lively Old Wulfs side from adding three more goals before the end to complete a comprehensive victory.
It does not get any easier for Yardley this week as they travel away to face high-flying West Bromwich.
