Report

A well contested and very sporting game for the Yardley Badgers against West Brom. Yardley fielded 5 new players who have not played for Yardley before or have never played on a full size pitch.
Eden – Kesh
Ethan Kesh
Jack – Kesh
Barrakah Dean
Zack Dean
Yardley started the game under pressure from West Brom and the first 10 minutes were largely dominated by WB, Kathryn making a number of notable tackles and interceptions at centre back. Yardley grew into the game and started to find some good possession in dangerous areas. The main outlet being through Muhammed at right back, onto Jordan, being particularly effective down the right midfield and this is where the first goal came from. Jordan crossed into a crowd of players and up popped Zack Dean to score at the far post in his first game. The first team captain enjoyed that goal so it must have been good. WB equalised just before half time when, for the first time in the match, the defence dithered, and didn’t put pressure on the ball. The WB player showed great composure to score with a flicked effort.
The second half mirrored much of the first with WB starting strongly and Jack in goal kicking 3 or 4 times to clear which he did with a good deal of composure. Again Yardley grew into the half and with good counter attacking went on to score again. This was a mouth watering goal for the purist out there. Jordan again with good work down the right crossed from between the 23 and base line. Who should come sliding in at the back post, stick flat on the floor and deflected the ball past the stranded keeper, Zack Dean again. A wonderful goal right from the England / international training book. WB stuck to the task however and despite some good work by Yardley, legs began to stop working due to the heat and lack of squad depth. WB equalised and there was no further noteworthy goal mouth action. Both sides finished the game almost out on the feet due to the effort put in and the heat.
2 – 2 was probably a fair result but having been ahead twice we feel a little unfortunate not to have come away with a win. A really good effort from all involved so well done all and bring on the next game.

Squad not mentioned above but who non the less played an important part in the good result and game, Owen, Usamah, Ubaydah, Aeysha,

Jon S
