Match Report | This week’s hockey report : REDDITCH 6 YARDLEY 0 This was never going to be an easy game for Yardley in the Warwick Printing Hockey League, West Midlands Division1 against promotion hopefuls Redditch. Yardley’s task was made even harder with two late withdrawals from the team to be made up with players with little or no 1st team experience. Redditch seized their opportunity right from the start and throughout the first half were much quicker and more organised than their visitors. Two goals from open play and another from a penalty corner made the game safe by half-time. Yardley’s youngsters battled well but were unable to create many chances. Yardley improved their efforts somewhat during the second period, but the home side continued to attack with some pace. It did not help the visitors’ cause to have a player green carded and during this period two more goals from open play were conceded. A sixth was finally added from a short corner. Yardley’s miserable afternoon was further compounded by losing a player through injury for the final period of the game. This week Yardley face another daunting task, this time at home to league leaders, Stafford.
