Match Report | EVESHAM 6 YARDLEY 2 Goalscorers: Noor Zaman and Zach Jarvis In the end, Yardley had to concede that they were well beaten in this Warwick Printing Hockey League, West Midlands Division 1 game. Yardley started off brightly and dominated the early proceedings, but were not able to capitalise on the chances created. However, they did eventually take the lead when Noor Zaman’s low shot found its way into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. This seemed to spark the home side into action. Defensive errors led to three goals being put away and a converted short corner gave Evesham a healthy lead before half time. After some tactical re-organisation at the break, Yardley resumed their efforts during the second period. Then, slightly against the run of play at the time, Evesham added a fifth when a clearance from defence led to another defensive error to allow a straight forward shot on goal giving the keeper little chance. Dominant Evesham then added a sixth from a short corner. Yardley kept at it and had the last word when a shot on goal from a rare short corner hit a foot on the line and from the resulting penalty flick Skipper Zach Jarvis cooly dispatched the ball into the bottom left corner. It already seems as if it’s going to be a long hard season for Yardley. They need to tighten up in defence and make more of the chances theycreate. They have a home game against Barlaston this week. |
