Match Report |
The week did not get off to a great start when Yardley were informed the push back for the game was 10:30am. This was clearly far too early for half of our Badgers to get out of bed. It was a struggle all week to get a team together but we managed it in the end and pulled out a decent performance albeit against a much younger opposition.
Yardley started well and created lots of goal scoring opportunities but couldn’t find the killer instinct in front of goal with a succession of different players missing good opportunities to open the scoring. The approach play was very good with particularly Jordan shining down the right hand side. Muhammed had a good solid game and grew in confidence as the match progressed, making some good runs of his own. Owen hit the ball hard as usual from centre forward and Kathryn was given the centre mid slot and tackled and broke down play on numerous occasions. Ziaur popped up in the 2nd period from sweeper to score our goal, a shot from centre midway in the D deflected from a defenders stick into the roof of the net. Noah and Ubaydah worked hard for the team. Hamptons player of the match was definitely the goal keeper who made several good saves.
Yardley were forced into playing Jeevan, Paul, Nigel and Zach as adults due to lack of Badgers through illness or non availability. Apologies to Hampton for this but we would not have had a team without them.
