Match Report

A game Yardley Badgers should have got some points from. This week the Badgers were slow off the blocks and paid the price for a less disciplined and polished performance than seen in recent weeks. Blossomfield started brighter and had us under some early pressure largely down to our own inaccurate passing and giving away possession too cheaply. Also we struggled to find space coming too narrow too often making defending easy for the opposition. We also couldn’t recycle the ball across the backs to change the angle of attack and this meant our forwards, Owen, Noah and Sean had no service to feed off. Not one telling cross in the match for Yardley showed how much of a miss Jordan was. We did construct a few good moves particularly down the right but with no end product. At half time we tried shuffling the pack a little which brightened the team for about 10 -15 minutes but then we seemed to lose energy and Blossomfield finished the stronger. Not a lot more can be said, it would be hard to pick a man of the match as nobody did anything particularly bad, just nobody did anything particularly good either. In this game our big players who have performed so well, so consistently just didn’t shine and the Bloss adult at the back had one of the easiest games he’ll get for several seasons as we ran the ball into him time after time. Also our lack of ambition in front of goal was a cause for concern.
Not a particularly bad day at the office but not a good one either for a team capable of so much more. Onwards and upwards, Hampton next.
