Score 1-1

On Saturday 1st of November, Yardley Badgers travelled to play Worcester Potters away. With a bare 11 the line up was: Nigel- kicking back; Owen- right back; Ubaydah- centre back; Muhammed- right back; Jordan- right midfield; Usamah- centre midfield; Ishaq- left midfield; Kathryn- inside right; Aeysha- inside left; Pradeep; up front with Umaima.
The first half started off with our push back and it was an evenly matched game. Yardley attacked hard and defended hard. They also broke through their defence several times but each time we looked like scoring our chances we throttled by their adult or a member of their team. Several times they got the ball into our D but luckily never managed to find the back of the goal. The game was flowing end to end and we had several attempts but none found the goal. There was some excellent skill work from Yardley, particularly from the inside forwards and Usamah at centre mid, but they couldn’t quite give it that nudge in that would give them a goal. At half time the score was 0-0 and Yardley sat in the goal listening and taking on board what the coach said "harder passes and staying wide" were the main two things.
As the second half commenced, they got the ball into Worcester’s D and passed to Pradeep who scored- that’s 4 goals in the last two games- making it 1-0 to the Yardley Badgers. Worcester came back fighting though and soon had the ball in our D threatening to score and after a great run down the wing from the right mid, shot, Nigel saved it but they shot again and this time it unfortunately came off Owen’s stick and into the back of the goal. After that, the ball was up and down the pitch like a rocket, each team trying to get that winning goal but neither team could find it. A good game and Yardley took several things away from that game.
1) Use the space the pitch offers,
2) Ball speed and you will score by eliminating defenders
2) Don’t be scared to shoot when in the D.

Overall, the teams were evenly matched, (well maybe Yardley edged it this time) and all that Yardley can hope to do the next time they play them is keep up the good work and remember your jobs on the pitch.
Outstanding performances by all well done.
Bromsgrove at home next.
