Match Report | Without a game last week, Yardley were keen to get back in to action. Recent games between these two sides have produced plenty of goals. Last Saturday’s game in the Warwick Printing Hockey League West Midlands Division 1 also produced its fair share, albeit mainly to the home side. In their favour Yardley began fairly brightly and more than held their own for the majority of the first half, but eventually it was the home side that scored to ensure a slender lead at half time. Pershore kept control for the early part of the second period and added two more goals to make the game fairly safe. Yardley did manage to raise their game to reduce the arrears. Skipper Zach Jarvis put through a great pass from midfield to find Noor Zaman in the D and he managed to pass the ball on to Munib Altaf who slotted home. Somewhere there’s an old cliché about being at your most vulnerable when you’ve just scored. And so it proved. Right from the restart Pershore stormed downfield and scored their fourth. Yardley tried to rouse themselves yet again and had a good chance to score again during a goalmouth scramble, but even with the home keeper on the floor, three attempts to score could not produce the goods. Once again, it proved not to be Yardley’s day and in the end Pershore deserved all three points. |
